Need to get back to Internet Explorer 7 after “accidently” installing Internet Explorer 8?

Did you download Internet Explorer 8 and can’t figure out how to uninstall it?
You’re not the only one!  Here’s how to get rid of it.

Windows XP:  Click on “Start” then “Control Panel”.  Double click on
“Add or Remove Programs”  Scroll down to the bottom and  click on
“Windows Internet Explorer 8″.  Click on “Remove”.

Windows Vista:  Click on the round Windows “Start” button.
Choose “Control Panel”.  Choose “Programs and Features”
On the left hand side, click on “View installed updates”.  Scroll down and click on
“Windows Internet Explorer 8″.  Look up at the top and choose “Uninstall”.

This will put you back to Internet Explorer 7.

He Brett, Looks pretty darn seamless. I like it

What is the issue with EI8? Why do you recommend not installing?

  3. Brett Says:

Great question Bernie. I don’t not recommend installing IE 8. Microsoft put the update to Internet Explorer in their “critical” updates, which it is not. It should have been put in “recommended” updates. It is not critical, at this point, that you run IE 8. The only reason I show how to go backwards is because some users have issues with IE 8 on websites they use on a regular basis, ie, rmlsweb.com. I have IE 8 running on a few computers, and have no problems with it.

Having said all this, I don’t recommend using Internet Explorer at all, unless you have to. The safest thing you can do is use another browser to browse the web. I like Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari. They can both be downloaded from my site by clicking on the link “Web Browsers”.
